Fragging Free
「DOOM 3:Resurrection of Evil」（RoE）用の Mod である「Fragging Free」には驚いた！ 無料なのが信じられないくらい、完成度が高いのだ。

この拡張は DOOM 3 RoE のエンジンを借りながら、まったく別のゲームを作ってしまった。
新しいマップなのはもちろん、武器や敵も一新されている。なんと、敵の AI まで変えているのだ。太ったゾンビが火の玉を投げるのを見たときには、奇妙な感覚がした。
味方のノンプレイヤキャラクタが独自の AI で動くのを序盤から見られる。本当に、これが DOOM とは思えない。
デーモンや車の操作ができるのもすごい！ 下の動画は、おなじみの Revenant（骨）をプレイヤが操作している様子だ。
あまりにも本編と異なるため、チュートリアルがついている。ぜひともこちらからプレイして欲しい。非常に良くできている。最低限の英語さえ読めれば、すぐに Fragging Free の世界になじめるだろう。
チュートリアルの終了後には、ムービーまで流れる。DOOM 3 本編の人物や音声をうまく使って、雰囲気がよく出ているので必見だ。

YouTube には上の Revenant も含め、3 つの動画がある。Fragging Free の独特な感じをつかむには、動画を見るのが早い。公式サイトにもイメージビデオがあり、プレイ中の様子を見られる。
主な特徴
自分のつたない英語力で訳すよりも、原文を参照して欲しい。

「バレットタイムモード」という、RoE で誰もが思った「そのまま」のネーミングが面白い。バレットタイムの時間を増やすための条件は、チェーンソーやコンボを使った攻撃なのが熱い。チュートリアルを何度も試すのが上達の近道だ。
ダウンロード
公式サイトからのダウンロードはものすごく遅い。自分は下のサイトから落とした。それでも 10 分くらいかかる。

まとめ
チュートリアルをクリアして、Fragging Free の本編を数分間だけ遊んだ。「これは一大事だ！」と思い、記事を書いた。

と書いてある。まだ、できたばかりのようだ。いまでもとんでもないクオリティだが、まだ成長する Mod なのかもしれない。
